2020 Fire District Awards
East Umatilla Fire & Rescue is honored to award these individuals for their service
Officer of the Year
Jeremy Lasater |
Congratulations to Jeremy Lasater, the East Umatilla Fire and Rescue Officer of the Year for 2020. Jeremy has completed a four-phase Task Book during 2020. The phases covered Command, Training/Teaching, SOG/Policy Development and Fire Cause/Determination/Investigation. There were tasks, classes and real-world experience within each phase to compliment the intent of the task book. Assistant Chief Lasater is supervising the maintenance of all the fire apparatus and (through the IGA) the ambulance apparatus, as well as the command staff schedule. Jeremy has done a great job and we are fortunate to have him serve our community.

Medic of the Year
Michael Kobasa |
Congratulations to Michael Kobasa, the East Umatilla Fire and Rescue Medic of the Year for 2020. Michael has taken the Advanced EMT course and become certified as an Oregon EMT-A. He lives in Adams and is a full time employee of the East Umatilla County Area Ambulance Health District. Michael continues to make a regular positive difference in our district. We are lucky to have him on our team.

Firefighter of the Year
Juan Avila |
Congratulations to Juan Avila, the East Umatilla Fire and Rescue Firefighter of the Year for 2020. Juan has made significant contributions to the district response, the vehicle fleet and the overall fire safety to the surrounding communities for many years. His involvement makes a difference in the level of service we are able to provide. Juan Avila is a valuable member of our team.
